The Energy of Spring
Welcome to the year of the Pig!
As of Feb 5th, the Year of the Pig officially started. This a good year to keep your nose to the ground – but in a fun way.
Imagine snuffling along, looking for truffles, hanging out with your friends and wagging your tale. There are a lot of ways to look at the Chinese Calendar and what the animals of each year tells us about ourselves and each other. I like the experiential version.
I am also more inspired by the actual changes in nature. In the ancient indigenous calendar of Asia, the season of Spring begins, or Enters the Sky, around February the 4th. The actual date of the beginning of the new year is the new moon closest to February 4th.
The date is for calendars. For people who live in a close connection to nature, the arrival of Spring depends on the weather every year. Every late January or early February there are a few sunny and bright days that seem oddly still but shiny. And then Winter usually comes back to stomp his cold boots around for as long as he can. This year, Spring is especially powerful because there is a New Moon on the 5th.
Both Spring and the New moon are associated with new beginnings. So, if you are starting something new, the world is on your side.
I am having a great Spring of new ideas and energies.
